Chief’s Diploma Program

Chief’s Diploma Program

Tiers Free Alternative Diploma Program focuses on high school dropouts who are looking for another chance to earn a high school diploma. The Chief’s Diploma Program is open to any law enforcement agency that wants to incorporate this alternative diploma program into their community policing initiatives.

Chief Rachael Lee Hart of the Oglethorpe Police Department and Chief Patricia Barber of the Marshallville Police Department were instrumental in launching the first pilot program in Macon County for small law enforcement agencies in rural communities.

The Macon County Chiefs’ Diploma Program is the only one in the state of Georgia to be supported by local judicial systems, the Macon County Board of Education, local government officials, Georgia state representatives, Flint Energies, Macon County Chamber of Commerce, and the Macon County DDAs of Montezuma and Oglethorpe. This program has already proven to be successful in changing the economic outlook for former high school dropouts.

Chief’s Diploma Program participants are successful in this program because they don’t start over; instead, they restart where they left off. By using an internet-based curriculum, students have the flexibility to work at their own pace while completing the requirements for a high school diploma.

Participants begin the program by obtaining an information packet from their local police department and a copy of their high school transcript. Once enrolled, participants pay a monthly class fee and must complete one class every 30 days.
